Destin, FL : Woman dies after crash on U.S. 98 in Okaloosa County on Friday, April 8, 2016

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident Friday on U.S. Highway 98 in Destin.

The Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls shortly before 2 p.m. about a crash involving a delivery truck and a black Chevrolet Impala at the intersection of Crystal Beach Drive.
A married couple from Colorado were in the Impala, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The woman was critically injured and was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, where she died later, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The husband, who was driving, was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola were he remains in critical condition, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver of the delivery truck also received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

The names of the couple and delivery truck driver were not released Friday.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 98 when the delivery truck hit the passenger side of the Chevrolet, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No other details were available Friday night.

The eastbound lanes were closed for more than five hours after the crash.
