One person is dead and seven others were taken to hospitals after a crash on Interstate 85 in Davidson County on Sunday afternoon. A dog also died in the crash.
Three vehicles were involved in the wreck on I-85 near mile marker 89, just south of Old Linwood Road in Davidson County, according to WGHP/FOX8, the Journal's news-gathering partner.
Authorities have not released the names of the victims.
Highway Patrol Sgt. Comer said a pickup southbound on Interstate 85 crossed into a northbound lane and collided with at least one other vehicle. A third vehicle was also involved.
One person died at the scene and another was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in critical condition, Comer.
Some crash victims were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center by an ambulance and are in serious condition.
