BRANDON, SD : A two-vehicle crash which killed two people and injured two others near Brandon on Saturday, July 1, 2017

Names have been released of those involved in a two-vehicle crash which killed two people and injured two others early Saturday morning near Brandon.

A 2002 Chevrolet pickup collided with a 1998 Subaru Forester on Interstate 90 near mile marker 406. Both vehicles rolled into the north ditch.

The Subaru’s 38-year-old female driver, Anna Mason, and 44-year-old male passenger, Shannon Fischer, were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Both are from Sioux Falls, S.D.

The third occupant, an 11-year-old female, received serious non-life threatening injuries. Because she is a juvenile, her name is not being released.

Joshua Vortherms, 39, Adrian, MN, was driving the pickup. He was not wearing a seatbelt and received life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the state Division of Criminal Investigation, Brandon Police Department, Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Fire Rescue, South Dakota Department of Transportation and Med Star.

The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
