Phoenix, AZ : Good Samaritan struck and killed by hit-and-run vehicle on a Phoenix freeway early Monday morning, September 12, 2016

Authorities say a good Samaritan has been struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle on a Phoenix freeway.

Spokesman Raul Garcia of the state Department of Public Safety says the man was killed early Monday morning when he stopped to help a broken-down motorist.

According to Garcia, the incident occurred on northbound Interstate 17 at Thomas Road and that the hit-and-run vehicle is described as a light-colored Chevy pickup.

Garcia says another driver stopped to help the one who was hit.
