Northampton, MA : 22-year-old Chicopee woman died in Amherst crash on Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2016

A 22-year-old Chicopee woman died Tuesday afternoon after her vehicle crossed the center line on South Pleasant Street and crashed into a parked Peter Pan bus, according to the Amherst Police Department.

Police identified her as Adrienne Paquette. She was taken by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she was pronounced dead.

Fire Chief Walter “Tim” Nelson said Wednesday that Paquette was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

The ambulance arrived at 5:12 p.m., two minutes after paramedics received the call.

No one else was injured. Nelson said the bus driver was off the bus helping people board at the time of the crash. Peter Pan regularly picks up passengers near the Spring Street parking lot. Paquette was southbound and the bus was parked on the side of the road, facing north.

The crash is being investigated by Amherst Police and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.

Fire crews also helped clean up the accident scene, including antifreeze and oil that leaked from the vehicle.
