BERN TOWNSHIP, PA : Boyertown man charged in accident that killed West Reading man on Monday, June 5, 2017

A Boyertown man was speeding, late for work and under the influence of amphetamines and marijuana when his car collided with an oncoming car while passing another vehicle on Route 183 in Bern Township, fatally injuring an 86-year-old West Reading man, according to investigators.

Darrell K. Cumba, 42, admitted he had looked down at a hand-held GPS device just before the crash about 4:15 p.m. near Morrison Road in the Greenfields section of the township, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Cumba of the first block of Cedar Lane was arrested at his workplace in Montgomery County early Monday on vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter charges in the crash that claimed the life of Carl Davis.
