Klamath Falls, OR : Driver dies in three-vehicle collision; six injured on April, Sunday 2nd 2017

A three-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon south of Klamath Falls, left one person dead and six others injured.

According to the Oregon State Police documents, the crash happened on state Highway 97 about 13 miles south of town and five miles north of the California border.

A white Chevy pickup truck was traveling behind a white Chevy van northbound on Highway 97 when a collision occurred between the two vehicles. The pickup then crossed the median into the southbound lane and struck a white Dodge Ram pickup.

A 38-year-old woman from Nipomo, Calif, one of the drivers, died at the scene, the report said. It is unclear which vehicle she was driving.

“We have a total of three vehicles, we have one fatality,” Sgt. Randall Hand of the Oregon State Police told KOTI/NBC TV news Sunday. “We have, I believe, six other victims between the three vehicles.”

Hand said police were responding to a driving complaint in the area just a few minutes before the crash. “We had two units from the Oregon State Police responding to this location in an attempt to find a white van. The report was that it was, I believe, all over the road, driving in an erratic manner.”

The names and conditions of the others involved have not been released and the accident remains under investigation.
