2 brothers from Columbus, Georgia., killed in Phenix City car crash

Two brothers from Columbus, Ga., died in a car crash Saturday when a Mustang veered into a ravine in Phenix City.Ronnie Short Jr., 25, and Derrick Short, 37, were pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck at 11:11 a.m. Saturday, Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.Around 9:40 a.m., the driver of a 1998 Ford Mustang lost control of the car, which veered off the road, overturned and crashed into bushes along Knowles Road, near the Brandywine subdivision.Both men were ejected from the vehicle, but authorities have not determined whether they were wearing seatbelts, Sumbry said.The driver was taken to the Midtown Medical Center for treatment.Authorities are investigating the crash to determine its cause.
