Dover, DE : One killed, one injured in Route 1 rollover near Townsend on Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2016

Delaware State Police are investigating a rollover crash in which two Dover women were injured this afternoon near Townsend.

The crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. today, Aug. 6, as Danielle R. Cain, 27, of Dover, was driving a 2001 Ford Escape south on Del. Route 1 near Pine Tree Road.

For an unknown reason, the Escape entered the center median and overturned numerous times, coming to a stop in the northbound lanes of Route 1.

The front seat passenger, Jonese Y. Seymore, 58, of Dover, was thrown from the vehicle. She was not properly restrained, police said.

She was taken by emergency medical services personnel to Christiana Medical Center where she was admitted with undetermined injuries, police said.

Cain, who was properly restrained, was taken by State Police helicopter to Christiana Medical Center where she was admitted with undetermined injuries, police said.

Troopers are continuing their investigation into this incident and no charges have been filed at this time.

Traffic was affected for about two-and-a-half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
