Four people were killed early Saturday after a three-vehicle crash 11 miles west of Ozona on Interstate 10, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety

DPS investigators said the crash happened just before 5 a.m.

According to the report, a 2005 Ford Ranger driven by Jessica Renee Marciano, 32, of Torrington, Connecticut, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when she fell asleep and the vehicle left the roadway into the center median. The Ford rolled over and came to rest, partially blocking the eastbound inside lane. Marciano was able to free herself from the vehicle with assistance and was sitting on the vehicle.

A 2018 Kenworth truck tractor driven by Carl Todd Saari, 47, of Iron, Minnesota, towing a 2001 raven trailer, was traveling eastbound approaching the disabled vehicle in the outside lane.

According to the DPS, Saari could only see a witness vehicle stopped on the improved shoulder and could not see the Ford on the roadway. Saari then moved to the inside lane and struck the Ford, killing Marciano.

After the collision, the Kenworth truck suffered complete steering loss, causing it to travel through the center median and into the the westbound lanes, where it struck a 2014 Volkswagen passenger car driven by Izaguirre GarzaI Isael, 54, of Cuidad Victoria, Mexico , traveling westbound with two passengers.

All occupants in the Volkswagen were killed.

Marciano and Isael were pronounced dead by Crocket County Justice of the Peace Evelyn C. Kerbow, along with Nora Castillo, 42, of Denver City, and Maria Guadalupe Lopez De Izaguirre, 50, of Cuidad Victoria, Mexico, who was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

Saari was transported to Shannon Medical Center with incapacitating Injuries.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Russell Weatherby of the Ozona DPS.
