SCOTT COUNTY, IA : 1 dead after crash on I-80 on Sunday, 28th April 2024

One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a crash detection call from a vehicle on I-80 near the 288 1/2 mile marker at 9:41 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies say the investigation shows a 2024 Chevy Trax and a 2016 Freightliner semi were traveling east when the semi rear-ended the vehicle. The Chevy went into a ditch.

According to a press release, the 52-year-old male driver of the Chevy died on the scene. The passengers, a 52-year-old female and a 16-year-old male were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The three of them are all from Peoria.
