Columbia, SC : 18-year-old killed in two car crash on Highway 178 on Thursday morning in Batesburg, November 6, 2014

An Abbeville man died and two others were transported to nearby hospitals following a two vehicle crash on Highway 178 on Thursday morning in Batesburg, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Highway Patrol investigators say the two cars who were traveling in the opposite direction when the driver of a 2002 Mercury drove left of center and struck the other car head on around 11:15 a.m. The Mercury driver, an 18-year-old, died at the scene, according to troopers. Two others in that car were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions are not known. As for the driver of the other car, a 65-year-old from Johnston, he was not injured.
