Canon, CO : Four injured in Fremont County crash on Tuesday, October 3, 2017

Four people were injured after a crash occurred on a private driveway Tuesday.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, at about 6:25 a.m., a Nissan Pathfinder traveling eastbound on a private driveway near CR 3250 in Fremont County spun out and collided with the road edge embankment and a boulder.

The Nissan's four passengers, all of Penrose, were all unrestrained at the time of the crash and all injured, including two children in the back.

Jerrid Ledford, 44, was the driver of the Nissan and was taken to St. Thomas More for moderate injuries.

According to CSP, alcohol and speed are suspected as a contributing factor in the crash, and Ledford has been since transported to the Fremont County Jail on charges related to the crash.

The front passenger, Shani Thorson, 48, suffered serious injuries from the crash and has been transported to Penrose Main in Colorado Springs.

The two children in the back, a 13-year-old male and 8-year-old female, each sustained minor injuries and were transported to St. Thomas More.

The new release stated after the Nissan spun and collided with the first boulder, the Nissan, "continued eastbound, going off the right side of the road and went airborne for a short distance."

The car then continued to go off road and collided into a culvert and a second boulder before coming to a rest.
