Pensacola, FL : Passenger killed in crash on E. Olive Road Sunday morning, August 21, 2016

The passenger in a single vehicle crash was killed Sunday morning near the intersection of East Olive Road and Williamsburg Circle.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Sophia C. Lopez,19, was driving vehicle one eastbound on East Olive Road (State Road 290) at approximately 2:20 a.m. Lopez failed to maintain control of her vehicle and the vehicle began to rotate clockwise and left the roadway, entering the south shoulder. The left side of the vehicle tripped, causing it to overturn. During the overturning process, the right front passenger, Wilan M. Harvey, 19, was partially ejected. Harvey was not wearing his seat belt.

The vehicle came to final rest on the passenger side facing west. Harvey succumbed to fatal injuries and was pronounced on dead on scene. Lopez was wearing her seat belt and received minor injuries, and was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment. The possible involvement of alcohol is still being investigated.
