Gainesville, FL : Man, 23, killed after exiting crashed vehicle on I-75 in Gainesville on Tuesday, 17th July 2018
A Jacksonville man was killed early Tuesday after he got into a crash on northbound Interstate 75, got out of his vehicle and was hit by a car.
The 23-year-old man has yet to be identified by the Florida Highway Patrol, pending next-of-kin notification, according to an FHP media release
The FHP reports the man had crashed into a guardrail near mile marker 386 on I-75 at about 4 a.m. He got out of his vehicle and began walking on the interstate.
Pamela Tabor, 53, of Kentucky, was driving a Mercury Grand Marquis north on I-75, FHP says. Tabor swerved right to avoid hitting the man’s car but her car’s front end hit the man.
He died at the scene.
I-75 northbound lanes were closed for several hours during the crash investigation. It opened up again at about 8 a.m.
