Ashby, MA : Methuen man hurt in crash on April, saturday 22th 2017

An 18-year-old Methuen man was seriously injured in a two-car crash at the intersection of Turnpike Road and Route 31 Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Ashby Police Department.

A Toyota Camry traveling westbound on Turnpike Road did not heed a stop sign posted at the intersection and was struck by a GMC Acadia driving south on Route 31, flipping the Camry onto its roof, according to the release.

The Ashby Fire Department extricated the 18-year-old from the Camry and he was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with serious injuries, the release said.The driver, a 17-year-old male from Lawrence, was transported to a local hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
Both people in the SUV, a 30-year-old woman and 5-year-old child from New Ipswich, NH, were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to the press release

Ambulances from Ashby, Townsend and Fitchburg transported the occupants. Townsend Police also responded to the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Ashby Police and Massachusetts State Police, according to the release.
