BRIDGEPORT, WV : Fatal wreck closes I-79 South on Friday, 9th September 2016

A multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 79 near Jerry Dove Drive closed the highway’s southbound lanes for hours Friday evening.
At least one person died in the wreck, and several others were taken to United Hospital Center, according to a Harrison-Taylor 911 dispatcher.
The wreck occurred at about 6:16 p.m.
Traffic was redirected off the interstate to W.Va. 279, according to the dispatcher.
Bridgeport firefighters, Bridgeport police, Harrison EMS and Anmoore EMS responded.
Bridgeport police are handling the investigation.
