Manchester, N.H : Crash causes downed live wires on Varney Street in Manchester after 60-year-old driver is distracted by dogs in her van on Tuesday, September 30, 2014

A driver was trapped by live wires after a crash on Varney Street in Manchester brought down multiple poles. Investigators said the driver, a 60-year-old woman, was distracted by one of her two dogs in her van. Firefighters had to wait for the power to be turned off before removing the driver. That driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries that were not life-threatening. The crash forced the closure of Varney Street from South Main Street to Mast Road. Drivers were asked to avoid the area while crews worked to replace two telephone poles and reconnect power. Police said the investigation is ongoing. It's not known if the driver will be cited.
