Georgetown,MS : Lucedale woman dies in overnight crash on Sunday, July 9, 2017

A 25-year-old Lucedale woman was killed in a crash involving an 18-wheeler Sunday night in George County. Now, the Mississippi Highway Patrol is working to find out exactly what happened.

MHP spokesman Chase Elkins identified the woman killed in the crash as Kayla Allman.

Elkins said the two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of Old Mobile Hwy./Geiger Rd. and Hwy. 98 around 9:45 p.m.

According to Elkins, Allman, who was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle, ran a stop sign trying to cross the westbound lanes of Hwy. 98. That’s when an 18-wheeler traveling west slammed into the driver’s side of Allman’s car.

Allman died at the scene, and the driver of the 18-wheeler reported no injuries.

Elkins said there are no criminal charges in relation to the crash, but MHP troopers are still investigating.
