Kingfisher, OK : 1 hospitalized following collision at 1 mile east of Kingfisher on Oklahoma 33 on Monday, 21st January 2019

A 30-year-old Guthrie man was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle collision east of Kingfisher, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting.

The crash occurred about 6 a.m. 1 mile east of Kingfisher on Oklahoma 33, according to an OHP report.

Chance Joseph Payne, 30, of Guthrie, was westbound on the highway in a 2005 Toyota Tacoma when he went left of center for an unknown reason, striking an oncoming 2007 Chevy Express G3500 driven by Hicham Benssassi, 37, of Bethany, according to the report. Benssassi attempted to take evasive action to the left, but his vehicle struck Payne’s vehicle head on.

Payne was transported by air to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in stable condition with leg and internal injuries, according to the report. Benssassi was transported OU Medical Center by Kingfisher EMS, where he was treated and released.
