Washington County, MO : Byrnes Mill man killed in crash on rural Washington County Highway 185 near Black Road on Thursday, 16th August 2018

A Byrnes Mill man was killed and three other people injured Thursday when an SUV crashed off a state highway in rural Washington County.

Herbert L. Bruce Jr., 57, was one of three passengers in a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer that crashed shortly before 4 p.m. off Highway 185 near Black Road, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report. The intersection is near Potosi and the Mark Twain National Forest.

The SUV had just reached the top of a hill when the driver saw several vehicles stopped in the roadway and applied the brakes while swerving to the left to avoid them, the patrol said.
