Lincoln, NE : Three people injured in collision on Rodeo Road Sunday evening, August 21, 2016

A two vehicle accident on Rodeo Road sent three people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries on Sunday evening.

Traffic from Interstate 80 was being diverted at North Platte after an earlier accident near Hershey closed part of the interstate. The diverted traffic had stopped on Rodeo Road when a Honda sedan rear-ended a Chevrolet SUV. The accident occurred near the intersection of Rodeo Road and Vine Street around 7:50 pm.

Witnesses said the driver of the Honda did not stop when other traffic did, said North Platte Police Department Officer Lisa Citta. The accident was still under investigation, but Citta said the driver was believed to be diabetic and that may have been the cause.

The man driving the Honda as well as a woman and a child were taken to Great Plains Health with non-life-threatening injuries. The three passengers in the Chevrolet were uninjured.

A child in the Honda was not properly restrained, but Citta said seat belts were in use in the Chevrolet.
