LINCOLN, NE : Officer killed in crash while conducting traffic stop on Highway 77 on Friday, 14th April 2024

The Nebraska State Patrol reported that a Ceresco Police Officer was killed in a crash while conducting a traffic stop on Highway 77 on Friday.

According to NSP, Officer Ross Bartlett had pulled over a vehicle on Highway 77 just south of Ceresco at 7:37 p.m. While parked on the shoulder of the road, his cruiser was struck by a Ford F150. When first responders arrived, bystanders on the scene were seen performing aid to Bartlett.

Bartlett was flown to Bryan West, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Ford F150 was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver that Officer Bartlett had pulled over was not injured.

Crews from Ceresco, Lincoln Fire & Rescue, and StarCare responded.
