A Texas man died Sunday in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Pushmataha County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

John Newton, 57, of Seagoville, Texas, was pronounced dead about 8:45 p.m. on private property about 4 miles east and 5 miles north of Rattan.

Newton was driving the ATV on a steep hill when it overturned and fell backward. He was thrown from the ATV, the patrol reports. Newton was not wearing a helmet, the patrol reports.
