Tarentum,PA : Route 28 northbound reopens in South Buffalo after accident on October, Wednesday 25th 2017

Route 28 northbound was closed Wednesday afternoon for about three hours following an accident after which two PennDOT workers were treated for minor injuries.

Armstrong County 911 said the lanes reopened about 5:15 p.m.

The accident involving a tractor-trailer and a PennDOT truck happened about 2:30 p.m., just before the Slate Lick exit near mile marker 31 in South Buffalo, according to state police and Armstrong County 911.

According to state police, the tractor-trailer wasn't able to stop before hitting a stopped PennDOT vehicle that was working.

The collision caused the PennDOT vehicle to be pushed into two other parked PennDOT vehicles, state police said in a news release.

Traffic was detoured through Freeport, according to Armstrong County 911.

The accident is under investigation. State police weren't immediately available for more information.
