Jamestown, ND : Fatal crash near Williston on Wednesday, October 4, 2017

An 83-year-old Williston, N.D., man died Wednesday in a two-car crash in Williams County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. about 3 miles north of Williston, when the 2003 Honda Odyssey the man was driving west on 60th Avenue Northwest crossed the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2 and was struck by a northbound 2003 Peterbilt semi.

The man was transported by Williston Ambulance Service to CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston where he was declared deceased, the patrol said.

An airbag was deployed but the patrol did not state if the man was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semi, Matthew Williams, 24, of Moultrie, Ga., was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

The accident remains under investigation by the patrol.

The name of the person who died was not immediately released pending notification of relatives, the patrol said.

Williams County Sheriff's Office and Williston Rural Fire Fire Department also responded to the scene.
