Genesee County, MI : Fenton man dies after a crash on I-75 in Flint Township on Friday morning, January 15, 2016

A 48-year-old Fenton man is dead after an early morning crash in Flint Township Friday morning. The accident closed I-75 for several hours. According to Lt. David Kaiser of the Michigan State Police-Flint Post, the crash occurred at about 2:50 a.m. The crash occurred on southbound I-75 just north of Maple Road in Flint Township, according to the MSP press release. The name of the victim was not released before press time Friday. A semi-tractor trailer was traveling southbound on I-75 when it was struck from the rear by a Jeep that was also traveling southbound. The Fenton man sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured. A MSP traffic crash reconstructionist and motor carrier officer are assisting troopers investigating the crash. The crash remains under investigation. Lanes were re-opened shortly before 9 a.m.
