LAKELAND, FL : Polk crash causes major traffic backup on U.S. 98 South/Bartow Road on Friday, 21st February, 2020

A Jeep collided with a Polk County Fire Rescue engine Friday morning and caused a major backup on U.S. 98 South/Bartow Road, according to authorities.

Engine 28 was responding to another traffic accident when it was struck shortly after 7 Friday morning at County Road 540A in Lakeland, PCFR spokesman Chris Jonckheer said.Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the crash scene and said no one was injured, but the Jeep driver was cited.

Jonckheer said the fire engine suffered some damage, but the extent is unknown at this time.

The crash was cleared around 9 a.m., the PCSO said.
