Port Angeles, WA : Man injured in head-on collision near Lake Crescent Lodge on Saturday morning, August 27, 2016

The driver of a Ford Explorer on Saturday morning was in serious condition at a Seattle hospital after a Saturday morning wreck on U.S. Highway 101 along Lake Crescent.

Wyatt Hull, 21, of Port Angeles was listed late Saturday afternoon in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview medical Center, according to Susan Gregg-Hanson, hospital spokeswoman.

Clallam Fire District No. 2 Fire Chief Sam Phillips said the Explorer and a box truck collided head-on at about 7 a.m. Saturday near milepost 230, about 1 mile east of Lake Crescent Lodge.

It took Fire District No. 2 firefighters an hour and 15 minutes to extricate Hull from the Explorer, Phillips said.

The driver of the box truck was Rajinbo Singh, 43, of Auburn, said Barb Maynes, Olympic National Park spokeswoman.

No other injuries were reported, Maynes said, adding that she had no other information.

The fire department and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office referred questions to the park because the wreck was on national park land.

The highway was closed at 7:30 a.m. and was reopened at 10:18 a.m. During the closure, traffic was rerouted to state Highway 112 and state Highway 113.

The driver was transported to Lake Crescent Lodge, where personnel from the Beaver Fire Department had set up a landing zone for a helicopter.

The Joyce Fire Department assisted, Phillips said.
