Fort Lauderdale,FL : Police name pedestrian killed in Monday crash on January, Monday 22nd 2018

embroke Pines police have identified a pedestrian who they say was hit and killed after he failed to use a crosswalk while crossing a busy boulevard.

The crash that killed Carmelo Nogueras, 58, of Pembroke Pines, happened minutes before 7 p.m. Monday as he crossed mid-block, said Sgt. John Baker.

Nogueras was hit by a 2008 Hyundai traveling east in the 8000 block of Pines Boulevard, according to police.

He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood where he died. The medical examiner used fingerprints to identify Nogueras, Baker said.

The driver of the Hyundai, Martine Camille, 62, of Coconut Creek, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Baker said.

“Charges might be presented based upon the final outcome of the traffic unit’s investigation,” Baker said.

The investigation is ongoing.
