Cass County, MO : 2 hospitalized in 4-vehicle highway crash on U.S. 35 near 300 North in Cass County on Friday, 10th August 2018

Two people were hospitalized after a four-vehicle highway crash north of Logansport Friday afternoon.

First responders were dispatched to the crash at about 3:56 p.m. on U.S. 35 near 300 North in Cass County.

Cass County Sheriff's Sgt. Gary Armstrong said a southbound white 2005 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Bartolome N. Martin, 59, Logansport, caused the chain reaction. Armstrong said Jon A. Sailors, 42, Logansport, driving a southbound gold 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, saw Martin coming up behind him without slowing. Sailors attempted to get out of the way by driving off of the west side of the highway but his vehicle ended up getting clipped by Martin's, Armstrong said.

Armstrong said Martin then rear-ended a gray 2008 Chrysler Sebring driven by Theressia L. Roland, 56, Logansport, forcing her to rear-end a silver 2014 Honda Ridgeline driven by Virginia K. Curts, 65, Kokomo.

Roland reported chest pain and Prompt Ambulance Service transported her to Logansport Memorial Hospital, Armstrong said. Magdalena Martin, 52, Logansport, a passenger in the Town & Country, reported neck pain and was transported to the hospital as well. Curts reported back pain but was not hospitalized.

Armstrong said he cited Bartolome Martin for speed too fast to avoid collision and driving without insurance.

Sailors and his passenger along with Roland's passenger were not injured, Armstrong said.
