Spartanburg,SC : Child ejected in Spartanburg Co. crash, 5 other juveniles also hospitalized on August, Tuesday 22nd 2017

Troopers said a 6-year-old child who was not properly restrained was thrown from a minivan that struck another vehicle in Spartanburg County Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on South Church Street Extension near Black Street.

Troopers said a 1998 Toyota pulled out onto South Church Street from a private drive and was struck by a 2007 Chrysler minivan.

A six-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle and taken to the hospital.

Three other children, ages 8, 13, and 14, were also hurt and taken to the hospital. Those children were all seat belted.

The driver of the minivan was not hurt.

A 17-year-old boy was driving the Toyota. Troopers said both the driver and a 14-year-old passenger were also taken to the hospital.

The driver of the minivan, a 22-year-old Spartanburg woman, was cited for improper lights and child restraint violation.

The teen driver was cited for failure to yield right of way.
