Monessen, PA : 2 killed, 3 hurt in Somerset County crash on Thursday, 11th August, 2016

Two people from Virginia were killed and three Westmoreland County residents were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Somerset County.

State police said Melanie Donna Wetzel, 25, lost control of the Honda Civic she was driving west on a wet Route 30 in Shade Township at 6:50 p.m. The car crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck on the passenger side by a Honda Odyssey traveling east.

Wetzel and her passenger, Andrew Kuremsky, 25, died at the scene, police said. Somerset County Coroner Wally Miller said there would be no autopsies on either victim.

A 16-year-old female driving the van and her passengers, Dawn Michelle Schott, 48, and a 17-year-old girl, all from Export, were taken by ambulance to Conemaugh Hospital. Police did not detail their injuries or identify the girls.
