New York, NY : Two dead in crash on the Belt Parkway in Queens on Thursday, September 18, 2014

A one-car crash on the Belt Parkway in Queens has claimed the lives of two people. The accident occurred near 181st Street at 10:45 p.m. Thursday. Police say the 20-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 19-year-old passenger in the Mitsubishi Lancer died a short time later at a hospital. A third person, a 14-year-old boy, suffered leg injuries. He's in stable condition. Police say a preliminary investigation determined the vehicle was traveling at a high speed on the North Conduit Avenue. The say the driver swerved to overtake another vehicle and then attempted to get back into the left lane and enter the entrance ramp to the westbound Belt Parkway.
