San Diego, CA : Woman smashed into two parked cars, causing a gas leak on late Monday night July 21st 2014

A Jeep collided into parked cars and caused a fuel leak late Monday night in Spring Valley.

The collision occurred at about 11 p.m. at Apple Street and San Miguel Avenue. According to officials with California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire, the driver crashed a Jeep Cherokee into a car and an SUV, splitting a fuel tank on one of the damaged vehicles. A hazmat crew was called to the scene to try and prevent gas from getting into the storm drain.

The driver and her passenger were taken to nearby hospitals with undisclosed injuries. The driver was expected to face drunken driving charges.

The intersection was closed for about two hours while emergency responders cleared the scene.
