GERBER, CA : Gerber car vs. bus crash at the intersection of 99W and Gerber Road on Tuesday, 7th January, 2020

Two teenagers suffered major injuries Tuesday morning when the car they were in collided with a bus in Gerber.

The collision occurred at 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of 99W and Gerber Road, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the California Highway Patrol.

A 1990 Ford Mustang driven by a Los Molinos boy, 17, was traveling east on Gerber Road approaching the intersection with 99W, the release said. A Gerber boy, 14, was a passenger in the Mustang.

Around the same time, a 2017 Ford E-450 transit bus driven by Steven Darrough, 68, of Red Bluff was traveling north on 99W towards the intersection. The bus had three passengers, all adults.


The Mustang entered the intersection directly in the path of the bus, causing the collision, the release said. Both occupants of the Mustang were ejected and sustained major injuries.
