WARWICK, RI : 19-year-old released on bail in Warwick crash that killed one, injured three on Saturday, 31st October, 2020

A 19-year-old from Warwick went before a judge Tuesday after being charged in a fatal crash on Post Road that claimed the life of one person and injured three, including himself.

Jacob Pelliccio was charged with Driving to Endanger Resulting in Death, Driving to Endanger Personal Injury (2 counts), DUI, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

Warwick police responded to the crash just before 4 a.m. Sunday and found Pelliccio behind the wheel of a 2003 Buick that had crashed into a bridge abutment on Post Road at the North Kingstown line.In court Tuesday, police said officers at the scene witnessed Pelliccio had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled strongly of alcohol. Pelliccio refused a chemical test, but was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for his injuries where his blood was tested. The toxicology report is pending.
