Dodge City, KS : Two western Kansas men and one person injured in collision on Highway 50 near Cimarron on Thursday, January 28, 2016

The Kansas Highway Patrol says Highway 50 between Cimarron and Dodge City is closed after an accident left two men dead.

It happened around 4:54 a.m. about five miles east of Cimarron according to the report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. Officials say a 2007 Chevy pickup was westbound on Highway 50 when it went left of center and struck a Peterbilt semi on the fourth and fifth axle. The Chevy was disabled in the westbound lane.

About seven minutes after that accident, the highway patrol reports those two men involved in the first accident were standing next to one of the trucks. Another vehicle, a 2012 Dodge pickup, was westbound and attempted to avoid one of the disabled trucks. It drove onto the shoulder and struck the two men.

Those men were identified as 27-year-old Christopher Louis Conrardy from Cimarron and 50-year-old Chris Alan Hamilton of Garden City. They were both killed

The 23-year-old driver of the 2012 Dodge was transported to Western Plains Regional Hospital.
