NEW CASTLE, IN : One killed in Henry County traffic accident on Sunday, 11th March 2018

One person was killed and three others injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Ind. 38 west of New Castle.

According to Indiana State Police, a Buick Rendezvous driven by Paul Young, 49, was eastbound on the state highway about 3:30 p.m. when the SUV crossed the center line and side-swiped a westbound Dodge Ram truck driven by James Wicker, 51, of Straughn.

The front driver side of the Rendezvous then struck a horse trailer being pulled by the truck.

When Henry County deputies and a state trooper arrived at the scene, near Henry County Road 300-W, they found the pickup truck off the north side of the highway and the Rendezvous on the south side of the road several yards away.

Young was taken to ambulance to Henry Community Health Hospital, where he later died. His passenger, Lindy Gayle Goodson, 43, also of New Lisbon, was also taken to the New Castle hospital, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Wicker and a passenger in his truck, Paula Brown Gardner, 46, Greenfield, were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The highway was closed for more than four hours, an ISP release said.

Henry County EMS and the Cadiz-Harrison Township Fire Department also responded to the scene.
