MIDDLEBORO, NH : Seasoned ATV rider from Middleboro dies in crash at 56 on Friday, 9th August 2019

A Middleboro man died in a crash while using a an all-terrain vehicle in New Hampshire on Friday, according to authorities.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said William Vannett, of Middleboro, was driving downhill on an ATV when he failed to navigate a left turn, leading to a fatal crash on Holt’s Revenge Trail in Jericho State Park in Berlin, New Hampshire. Vannett was 56 years old.

“Vannett and the ATV exited the right side of the trail and dropped over a slight embankment,” said the state agency, in a statement released on Saturday. “This crash is still under investigation. However, at this time speed appears to be a primary factor.”

Vannett was wearing a helmet and other safety equipment, and was known as an experienced ATV rider, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. Authorities said Vannett was operating the ATV without a passenger when the crash took place.

“Vannett was an experienced operator wearing a helmet and eye protection at the time of the crash,” the Fish and Game Department stated. “However, he sadly succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.
