Hillsborough County, FL : Man dead after crashing into deputy, fleeing, then crashing again on Saturday, 17th November 2018

A Plant City man died early Saturday after crashing into a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy's car, then fleeing and crashing again.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Jesse Lamar Wood was driving a Hyundai Elantra westbound on State Road 60 about 2 a.m. He crashed into the back of Sgt. James Jackson's cruiser, then drove away, deputies said.

Jackson's car was left inoperable by the crash, and he did not pursue Wood, who continued north on Limona Street at about 50 mph, the Sheriff's Office said. As Wood crossed over railroad tracks near Victoria Street, he lost control of the vehicle. The car rolled over onto its side, and Wood died at the scene.
