Athol, MA : Drug arrest made following two-car crash at the intersection of Route 2A and Brookside Road near McDonald’s on Friday, 13th September 2019

A Leominster man was arrested following a two-car accident on Route 2A Friday morning. According to Athol Police Chief Craig Lundgren, at 7:52 a.m, multiple 911 calls were received of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 2A and Brookside Road near McDonald’s in Athol. A female driver whose name was not released sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the two-car accident, and was transported to Athol Hospital, where she was taken by Life Flight to an unknown hospital. Alexander Trumpolt, 29, of Leominster, was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence of drugs causing serious injury, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, destruction of property, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury. Lundgren said Trumpolt, who was driving a white Subaru Forester, went through the intersection and broadsided the white Toyota Rav 4 driven by the woman and continued into a traffic light.
