Okarche, OK : 2 injured, one critically, in crash at an uncontrolled intersection near Okarche Wednesday evening, August 24, 2016

A 52-year-old Colorado man was critically injured Wednesday evening when his vehicle collided with a semi northwest of Okarche, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is reporting.

Samuel Olivas, of Bayfield, Colo., was taken from the scene of crash, reported at 5:28 p.m. 2 miles north and 1 mile west of Okarche, to Mercy Hospital in Kingfisher, according to an OHP report. Olivas was later transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in critical condition with internal injuries.

Jay Bennett, 51, of El Reno, also was transported by Kingfisher EMS to Mercy Hospital in Kingfisher, where he was treated and released for head injuries.

According to the patrol, Olivas was southbound on a county road in a 2012 Dodge truck, and Bennett was westbound in a 2008 Peterbilt. The two vehicles collided at an uncontrolled intersection, causing the Peterbilt to roll over on its side.

Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the report. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
