Jackson, MS : Man dies in Sunday night wreck on Sunday, January 29th 2017

A Jackson man is dead after a crash on I-55 south of Byram.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Cpl. Eric Henry said late Sunday that troopers responded to a two-car accident on I-55 northbound at the 84 mile marker.

Officials said a Chevrolet Sonic was traveling north when the driver, Ramone Willis, 45, lost control of the car and struck the barrier in the median. The car came to rest in the roadway and was struck by a Toyota Avalon which was also traveling north.

Willis was killed instantly, according to MHP. The driver of the Toyota, Bradley Sharp, 24, was taken to St. Dominic hospital with injuries, but has been treated and released.

The interstate was closed temporarily and traffic was rerouted to the Wynndale exit, but the road is back open.
