Colorado Springs, CO : Police chase ends in crash near downtown Colorado Springs on Tuesday, June 24, 2014

One person was arrested after a police pursuit Tuesday ended in a wreck near downtown Colorado Springs, police said.

The chase began in the area of South Chelton Road and East Fountain Boulevard about noon when police tried to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen, police said.

The driver was traveling southbound on Swope Avenue and intentionally slammed into a marked police SUV, disabling the vehicle, said Lt. Catherine Buckley.

The driver, whose identity was not released, could face felony eluding charges, motor vehicle theft and traffic violations, Buckley said.

The chase ended about 12:40 p.m. with the wreck the intersection of East Pikes Peak and Swope avenues, east of Memorial Park, police said.

There were no injuries.

Pikes Peak and Swope avenues were blocked by police.
