Brockton, MA : Man seriously injured in Whitman motorcycle accident on Friday afternoon, August 5, 2016

A man was seriously injured in a collision between a truck and a motorcycle Friday afternoon, officials said.

Whitman police and firefighters responded to the intersection of Washington and Broad streets about 2:52 p.m., for a report of an accident.

A man riding a motorcycle, who was believed to be 52 years old, was injured in the collision, said Whitman Fire Lt. Al Cunningham.

“The man suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Boston hospital,” Cunningham said.

The fire chief requested a medical helicopter when he arrived on scene. The initial estimated time of arrival was 25 minutes and the landing zone was going to be Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.

“Because the helicopter was arriving quicker than expected, they set up the landing zone at the middle school,” Cunningham said.

An East Bridgewater ambulance responded to the scene to take the man to the landing zone. The firefighters reported to the helicopter pilot that the injured man was suffering from a fractured left forearm and pelvis pain, but that his vital signs were stable.
