FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA : 2 CHP officers injured in crash on 405 Fwy. in Fountain Valley on Friday, 27th September 2019

Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured in a three-vehicle crash on the 405 Freeway in Fountain Valley, prompting all southbound lanes to be shut down early Friday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred on the southbound side just before 3 a.m., south of Warner Avenue, when a Toyota Prius crashed into the officers' cruiser.

Both officers involved were reported to be alert and were transported to a hospital, according to CHP. Their respective injuries were described as moderate and minor.

The driver of the Prius was hospitalized in unknown condition.

Investigators said the collision occurred after a Chrysler struck the Prius, which then slammed into the CHP cruiser. The male driver of the Chrysler was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Lanes were closed for several hours while an investigation was conducted at the scene.
