A driver is under arrest after police say he struck and killed a 57-year-old woman walking near Lake Minnetonka west of Minneapolis.
Orono police say the woman was walking in Minnetonka Beach, a small town on a peninsula on the lake, when a car struck her about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
The woman died at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Her name has not been released.
The Star Tribune reports officers arrested the 57-year-old driver, who lives on the street.
Police say they believe alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
The man remained in the Hennepin County Jail Friday afternoon.
