A two-vehicle crash on Parsons Road in LaGrange Township claimed the life of a Cortland, Ohio man, according to a media release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Elyria Post.

Jeffrey Cooper, 20, was identified as the driver of a 2008 Yamaha dirt bike and died as a result of his injuries. According to the release, Cooper was exiting a private driveway in the 40000 block of Parsons Road, attempting to turn right to head west, when the crash occurred.

Margaret Pretzloff, 36, of Grafton, was eastbound on Parsons Road in a 2015 Ford Explorer when Cooper exited the driveway and crossed the center line, entering the eastbound lane. The release said Cooper, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, was struck head-on.

Pretzloff was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and her two children, aged five and six, were in booster seats in the back seat. Neither Pretzloff nor her children reported any injuries, according to the report.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, according to the release, but neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
