Longview,WA : One dead in Seventh Avenue accident on August, Friday 18th 2017

One person died and another was critically injured in a pedestrian versus vehicle accident at the intersection of Delaware Street and Seventh Avenue in Longview on Friday afternoon.

According to Longview police, a white Kia Optima struck two pedestrians, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, in a crosswalk at 3:37 p.m. The driver, 21-year-old Natalie Myers of Longview, told police she was grooming and did not see the people in front of her. Witnesses reported her car was moving at a high speed at the time.

Myers was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and possession of heroin.

Victim names are being withheld by Longview police until they are sure they have notified all the victims’ family members. The male victim died at the site of the accident, while the female victim was taken to St. John Hospital.

Seventh Avenue remained closed between Douglas and Florida streets for approximately two hours while police investigated the scene of the incident. By 7 p.m., traffic was once again moving freely down Seventh Avenue.
